Recovering from the plague

As I said I would, I took Thursday off work. I think I was awake 6 hours that day. But my fever broke and I was feeling good enough to go into work for a few hours on Friday. By Noon though, I was tired and lightheaded and went home. I napped and played video games, taking it easy. I felt very restless and really wanted to do something productive.
Saturday Becca got invited to a birthday party that included a trip to the movies. She was scheduled to be gone for 6 hours. We'd been having more ant problems, so we decided that was a good opportunity to fumigate the house. Chris and I took a short drive and did some shopping: used book stores, picked up a copy of the Watchman graphic novel, and had a wonderful lunch at a cajun/creole place.
Sunday I was feeling pretty good. We went grocery shopping and then I decided to try a new bread recipe (that's what happens when I watch the Food Network while I'm sick). The recipe was for a huge amount of dough that wound up making four 2+ lb. loaves. The whole process took eleven hours -- I started at 11:00 am and the last loaf came out of the oven at 10:00 pm. I did other things during the rising and cooking periods (most of it cooking an entire week's worth of meals for the family) and the whole thing left me exhausted.
The results were good, but not fabulous. I got more yeast activity than I have ever gotten out of a bread dough, and the amount of rising was very impressive. The bread has the perfect texture, but was a little bland and too salty (yes, I did actually say that). Next time I'll try a smaller batch, more honey and less salt.
Today's plan is to work on the taxes and to help Becca finish up a job she's doing for
chromiuml. Hopefully we'll get that done tonight.
