Dec. 31st, 2005 06:39 pmIt's New Years again and time to take stock of the last 365 and look forward toward the next.
2005 has been a very difficult year for me. One of the worst in recent memory. But I have to say, without the least bit of rationalization or cognative dissonnance, that the pain and hardship has made me a better person, a better husband and a better father.
2005 has seen a lot of change for me. I have lost 30 lbs. and gotten an entirely new wardrobe. I've become obsessed . . . I mean devoted, to playing poker. I've made new, good friends and strengthened old friendships.
Successes of 2005:
Weight loss
New dining room and parking lot in back
Poker!
My father's retirement party
Failures of 2005:
Simulacrum - It is coming along, but far too slowly.
Sabledrake Enterprises - we totally slacked off and have done very little with our fledgeling company
Looking forward I have some things I'd like to do:
Put a good amount of energy into Sabledrake Enterprises
Publish 2 new SDE books - Silver Doorway #6: The Alchemist's Girl and The ElfLore Trilogy
Publish the Gathering Anthology
Get a serious manuscript of Simulacrum done
Do lots of live playtestesting of the new and improved Version 4.0 Simulacrum combat system
Get to the point where I can do $500 a week playing poker
Keep an active LiveJournal with 3 posts a week and poker updates
Run the Dealer's Room for the Gathering 2006
Read more books and keep a good TBR list
Stop hitting the Snooze button on the alarm clock
Empty out my game closet (known around the house as Tim's Office) of all the excess games. eBay, here they come.
There's a few more things I'd like to work on this year, but they won't make sense to most people. Things like having opinions and being more outspoken and being more friendly and being more emotional.
