I slept a little late and then spent the first hour of the day doing some Gary’s Games work on the laptop. I tried out the new coffee mug I got and it’s spout hole is too small, so that the coffee comes out too slow and in glurps.

Also, I read this article by Phil Reed about .pdf publishing. I think those are all pretty good points and if I go that way, which I’ve been thinking about, I will strongly consider those.

Around 10:30 Dad and I went out golfing. It was a nice day, sunny, a little hazy and humid. I wore my Dad’s motoring cap to keep the sun off of my bald spot. We hit a bucket of balls each on the driving range and then did nine holes.

I hadn’t played golf since Junior High School. I took private lessons for about a year and half before we went to Belgium. There’s a story there, but I won’t tell it now.

On the one hand it came back surprisingly fast; on the other, it came back frustratingly slow. I lost about four balls and didn’t keep track of my score. Dad finished the nine holes 3 or 4 over-par.

When we got back my aunt Judy was there with her granddaughter, Haley. I had met Haley briefly the day before and she’d been shy then, but now she wasn’t so shy. She asked to see pictures of Becca, so I showed her a bunch that I had put on my iPod. (To Becca: :P ) She had great fun taking the iPod to everyone and showing them the pictures, but then she got bored and threw the iPod back to me. I bobbled it a couple of times and never got control of it. It hit the concrete pretty hard but didn’t break; it just got a few dings on the edge. I’m listening to it now and it’s working fine.

I napped a bit on the couch and tried to write in my journal, but it was too distracting. Instead I surfed (still stealing internet from a neighbor since Mom & Dad’s satellite internet still isn’t working) the internet and found a neat website: PaperBackSwap.com I’m not sure if it will ever get enough users to make it work, but it’s a brilliant idea.

Mom showed me the beads she’s been working on and it was good to see her getting involved in a new hobby.

Around 5:00 pm we went to Overpass Pizza and had a great thin-crust pizza and a bottle of plum wine from a local fruit winery. When we got back we met up with aunt Judy and uncle Jim, Haley and her mother (my cousin), Kelly. We wandered around the adjoining yards talking about flowers, birds, squirrels and being entertained by Haley. I took video of Mom and Haley dancing together, but I think my Mom would kill me if I put that online.

They gave me some presents that they picked up on their Panama Canal cruise. They gave me a bottle of Mexican Vanilla extract, an engraving of the Spanish fort in Catagena, Columbia and a packet of Curry Powder blended in Trinidad. They also gave me presents for Becca and Chris, but I don’t think I have room to bring Chris’ back with me.

I called home while the folks watched Charmed and then decided to call it a night.

Since I got to bed early, I was able to get up early and catch up on my journals. It’s cold here in the RV this morning and I’m all bundled up because I’m too chicken to try to remember how to turn up the heat. The internet is flaky and while I was connecting earlier, I don’t have a connection now when I want to post.

The plan is to go out to lunch with some of the family at 1:30 pm and to do laundry tonight. I want to take pictures and post them. I have a Mother’s Day present to give. Tomorrow I leave Perrysville and spend the whole day traveling to Kalamazoo.
